Step- Maspyke
on 11/22, Tom Luedecke, Academy of Art alumnus and current "all things Nike/Kobe related and nike basketball in general" designer, spoke at my school. Pretty dynamic character. Provided a lot of good insight for what he does at Nike and what we should do and be doing as industrial design students. Some things that stick out in my head:
- don't complain (as students). it's going to be faster paced in the workplace. we have it good as students. plus, school should be fun.. especially in the field of design!
- don't forget about your alumni resources
- learn how to sketch on various media- chalkboards, dry erase boards, napkins, paper, computer, etc.
- practice or be efficient. aka balance your life. make room for family, recreation, work, friends, etc.
he's inspired me to delve back into footwear. thanks man. i'll be contacting you soon for a little chit and chat.
